Our Backs to the East // James Lewis Tucker

100.00

"We raced across the highway. Our backs to the east as we look to the sun setting over the rocky desert mountains. Sand in our boots and sage smelling sweeter as it gets darker. Hard wind blows from the north sipping the sand up and off the dunes around us. Stinging our hands, singing in our ears. Feeling more alive then I do now."

A linocut limited edition of only 20 prints. James was inspired by trips to Joshua Tree and the Mohave Desert, in particularly Kelso Dunes. Capturing the light receding from the view, this print has many layers of colors to create the desired effect.

Printed on a 1932 Vandercook letterpress with hand card linoleum blocks.

12x18 on 100% cotton archival paper
