TWO MINDS, ONE PRINT

I saw Ian’s work a few months back when he released his “Thank You Letter Carriers” print. I was taken aback from the style of his figures. There was something WPA about his style. It recalled the early 1930’s, when the common citizen was asked to do what they could to get their country through tough times. It was some of the most dire that this country has ever faced, maybe up until now.

After buying a few of Ian’s prints he suggested we collaborate on a print together using my split fountain and reductive landscape techniques. We quickly realized what the print needed to be about and what it could support, the massive wildfires on the West Coast of this summer and the recovery of the communities effected.
